I’ve Been Away For Awhile Now… So Let Me Update You

January 12, 2010

A small recap of what’s happened in our lives since it’s been a while for an update…

    October

Shanna and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 12th. We went to many furniture store’s during the month and finally found the couch we liked and placed it on layaway. We also received a call that we were accepted into an apartment complex so we can move into in December. I will be the only one living there until we get married in April.

    November

Thanksgiving was spent between both families. We did a little bit more shopping for the apartment. We also registered at a couple stores for Shanna’s bridal shower that was going to happen the following month. We had some difficulties with the computers and such. Two lesson’s learned from that, 1: do not go to the store and register; do it online. 2: Never register at Target.

    December

Christmas season, which means Christmas shopping happened a lot this month. It wasn’t the best time for Shanna and I buying gifts this year with money being tight, like many people. We had a ‘cap’ on how much to spend on people because we knew we were going to have items to buy for the apartment for what we didn’t get at Shanna’s bridal shower. There were a lot of good items we received at the bridal shower which helped out tremendously. Mostly kitchen items is what we wanted and that’s what we got. There were still some items we didn’t get that we had to go buy, but definitely a lot less then what we thought we needed. It was a very good turn out for the bridal shower. I spent time with Shane and Dale that night and watched one of the college football games.
We picked up our keys to the apartment on the evening of the 22nd. Shanna and myself live on the 3rd floor which isn’t bad except for moving day. We brought up a few boxes we had in the back of our cars that night and set some stuff up. It wasn’t until the 23rd when we did the full day of moving. I had asked my parents to help us move. We only had to move my stuff from my house since I was the person moving into the apartment. It took us about a half day to bring everything up. The couch arrived a little after noon, but since it was delivered, they had to haul it up the stairs, sweet!

    January

Apartment living for the last few weeks has been a treat. It’s a big change from living at home, but I enjoy spending time in my own home where everything there is mine or Shanna’s. I’ve started to get accustomed to shopping for grocery’s and going through the sale papers for coupons and which stores sell the item I want cheaper. I have cooked a couple meals, but Shanna has cooked most of the time. Shanna’s cooking is very good and I always enjoy it. No, I’m not buttering her up, it’s the truth!

This week we’ll be pretty busy. On Thursday, we have a marriage counseling session with Glenn & Judy (they also did Shane & Colleen’s counseling), Friday I’m taking Shanna to the “Greatest Show on Earth” after work. Saturday, we are planning on going to Winter Jam in Tampa to see christian bands play. That may change though depending what else we have to get done that day. You pay when you show up, so there are no commitments to going.

Last comment, I saw sleet for the first time in my life on Saturday (9th). It has been super cold here and there has been frost on my car nearly every morning for the last week. It’s going to be warming up starting today, so I’ll be able to turn off the heater and open the windows up again at the apartment.

Getting Married

September 30, 2009

It’s weird, ever since I got engaged I’ve been thinking about my child hood. Man where did the years go. I remember waking up and going to school, climbing trees, playing kick ball in the back yard with dad, megan, and shane. It seems like yesterday I was playing with dirt bombs out by the dirt road next to our old house. When I was younger I would be laying in my bed thinking about the day I would get married. I would say a little prayer for my future husband and I would lay and think what he may be doing at this very moment. I know, it’s corny but sometimes when I was in middle school and wasn’t having any luck with guys I would be walking from my car into my house at night and I would look up at the stars and wondering if my future husband was looking at the stars too. My parents always said I should pray for my future husband even when I didn’t know who he was. I told Daniel that the other day, and I told him I’m happy to finally have a name to say.
God has blessed this broken road of mine. With jerks leaving their options open. (mmmhmm) to guys that just weren’t interested in the first place. I have cried a lot of tears over the last decade as dreams were shattered with disappointment. My mom would always remind me that one day a guy would come that would be everything I need without me forcing him to, a guy that would love me the way I love them and them giving me 120%. Since I started talking to Daniel, I have always told him when I date someone I give everything I have and all I ask is for them to do that too. Not just to get money, not just to have an option.. but to actually want me. It’s funny how things turn out sometimes. God just knows what is best for you even if you don’t. I couldn’t be happier. Daniel is amazing and truly a blessing to me.
I’m getting married.. and I have been praying for him almost all my life I’m so excited this day has finally come. It’s nice to look back and think about all the things that have brought me to this point and see how much God has worked in my life. Thank God for answered (and unanswered) prayers

Been A While – Hell’s Kitchen Semi Review

July 22, 2009

It’s been awhile since I posted. Now that TV is starting back up (Such as Hell’s Kitchen) I can post some about that. But prolly wont post everyday.

So last nite on Hell’s Kitchen you meet a new team of so what talented chefs. And this season’s winner will receive the head chef position at Araxi Restaurant in British Columbia in Canada. The winner will also accompany executive chef James Walt to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games held in Vancouver.

hk6-cast-group

You can tell from the beginning intro that this season is going to be like a circus. Daniel and I like picking out the ppl we think will win this thing. I don’t really know just yet. But having Robert back from last season sure does make it interesting.

In the first show there were only two that really stood out to me as horrible.. but it was only the first dinner service.
The second show was way more interesting. With Van wanting to get into it with JP (he should have listened to JP, he has been in the game for a LONG time. i would hear what he has to say) But Van being a meat head tried to do things his own way.
Another jerk that i noticed right off the bat (and I’m sure everyone else did too) Was Joesph. Like dude.. seriously.. why did you come on Hell’s Kitchen if you aren’t going to listen and you think you know everything. Besides that.. the guy needs anger management. From the first show with the “Can I have a fork. Im not an animal” I knew this guy was trouble. But it ended with Joesph taking off his jacket and throwing down against Chef Ramsay. (What an idiot) For one, Ramsay is going to hit you so you can sue him. For two, i hope you enjoy your little 15 seconds of fame cuz that’s it. You’re career as a chef is over. No one is going to want to work with someone that wants to fight one of the best chefs in the world. If you can listen to him how are you going to listen to a head chef, a manager, or even a owner of a restaurant? Unless you own your own business you will be someones “b”. (if you know what i mean) If i was one of the ppl that guy was telling to shut the “f” up to. i would have thrown down. I don’t know who that guy thinks his is. Aint no body heard about you before this.. and your name will be forgotten shortly after this too dude.
(Video Below Of Joesph Getting in Ramsay’s Face)

This season has a lot of weird… crazy ppl on it. but it seems interesting.

Farrah Fawcett Die at Age 62

June 25, 2009

farrah

Farrah Fawcett, whose luxurious tresses and blinding smile helped redefine sex appeal in the 1970s as one of TV’s “Charlie’s Angels,” died Thursday after battling cancer. She was 62.

The pop icon, who in the 1980s set aside the fantasy girl image to tackle serious roles, died Thursday shortly before 9:30 a.m. PDT in a Santa Monica hospital, spokesman Paul Bloch said.

Man. That’s said. Just after hearing of her and Ryan O’Neal to get married. (Source) And Now she lost her battle to cancer. She was still so young.

Sean Penn Giving it Up

June 18, 2009

Toronto Film Sean Penn

Reading the latest article on Sean Penn giving up some blockbuster rolls to focus on his family was pretty interesting. If you haven’t read it. Here

The “Milk” star has dropped out of two high-profile films: “The Three Stooges” and the crime thriller “Cartel,” taking an extended leave from Hollywood so that he can focus on family matters. Sources have said the absence could last up to a year.

In May, Penn filed for a request to dismiss his legal separation case from wife Robin Wright Penn. It is the second time he has rescinded divorce proceedings.

I’m glad to see he isn’t just going to do like evvvvvvery other Hollywood couple does (Like Billy Joel).. and just call it quits to focus on their own career (which to me is super selfish) I have to say. If i was a star in hollywood, i would just skip the whole getting married thing, cuz it doesnt seem to work out. I don’t even see how it could with doing scenes with kissing other guys and such.

But Sean Penn is a great example of how to give up what you have (or working on) and focus on what’s more important. Mad Props to him for that (Not so mad props for the milk movie though. blah)

Giving up those roles though must have been hard for him. So great example of unselfishness. :)

Update– Busy Week

June 5, 2009

So finally my wisdom teeth are coming in. BLAH. These things hurt like he…..ck. I called Aetna (My insurance company) and had them add Dental Insurance to the plan I currently have. (Which will only be like 20ish dollars a month) But I have to wait for the card to come in before I make an appointment. Meanwhile I’m dying from the month. BLAH.

Anyways. Next week is a very busy week for me.
Monday- Jury Duty– I know a lot of ppl hate jury duty. I can totally understand when they only pay you 15 dollars a day.. When i have a job that pays me almost the same amount per hour. (Jerks) I think they should go through the unemployment sheet and choose ppl that don’t even have jobs to go and do that crap.

Thursday- Rays Game– the second game in Daniel and My ten pack. I’m wondering when the heck we will be getting our replica ring?! *shrugs* i know have a pink evan shirt.. ANNNND a pink rays hat. lol. such a ball bunny.

Friday– Doc appointment. Fun fun. i get to have a doctor tell me why my levels weren’t where they should be. Also Im hoping to have my dental insurance card by then and MAYBE i could schedule a dentist appointment that day too. If my teeth hurt even more by the end of the weekend.. MAYBE (if i have my card) I can schedule an appointment for tuesday.
——-
Tonight- Daniel and I are going to the Eagle Ridge Mall, May catch a movie (Hopefully Land of the Lost even though the Ledger gave it 2 1/2 stars)
Tomorrow- Daniel and I actually are going to sign up for the Access Fitness in highland city. (Yay for healthy) I just switched banks from WAMU (boo– you don’t even have a drive thru) to MidFlorida (Yay– i dont have to get outta my car when its raining)

And that’s all the update i have for now. Hope you enjoy the news updates and what not i update with. ttyl

Actor David Carradine Found Hung

June 4, 2009

BANGKOK (AP) — Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series “Kung Fu” who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.

It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.

The newspaper said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The name of the movie was not immediately available.

It said a preliminary police investigation found that he had hanged himself with a cord used with the room’s curtains. It cited police as saying he had been dead at least 12 hours and there was no sign that he had been assaulted.

A police officer at Bangkok’s Lumpini precinct station would not confirm the identity of the dead man to The Associated Press, but said the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park hotel had reported that a male guest killed himself there.

Carradine was a leading member of a venerable Hollywood acting family that included his father, character actor John Carradine, and brother Keith.

In all, he appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby.

But he was best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin priest traveling the 1800s American frontier West in the TV series “Kung Fu,” which aired in 1972-75.

He reprised the role in a mid-1980s TV movie and played Caine’s grandson in the 1990s syndicated series “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.”

He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino’s two-part saga “Kill Bill.”

Dude. what is with actors killing themselves lately. RIP David.

Eminem VS Bruno Staged

June 3, 2009

On Sunday night, when Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter-ego Bruno descended from the rafters and landed fanny-first on Eminem’s head, most folks figured that the rapper’s rage was the real deal. Suckers! Not only was Eminem in on the joke, he and Baron Cohen rehearsed it to make sure it would all go according to plan.

Suspicions over the legitimacy of “butt-gate” had been brewing for days, but it wasn’t until a writer for the MTV Movie Awards confessed that we all knew for sure. On his blog, head writer Scott Aukerman wrote that the incident was staged. “They rehearsed it at dress (rehearsal) and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show.” Wow. Let it never be said that Eminem isn’t a team player.

According to the New York Daily News, Eminem wasn’t Baron Cohen’s first choice for the joke. That honor, which was tragically declined, went to Paris Hilton. Just imagine the buzz had that happened. Still, Eminem did a great job of selling the stunt considering he “may not have been briefed on just how naked Baron Cohen’s flying ‘Bruno’ would be when he agreed.” What a pro.

Even before the writer’s admission that the crash landing was planned, the searches had a suspicious slant. Throughout Monday, lookups on ” was the eminem bruno stunt staged” and “eminem bruno joke” posted strong gains. Blogs, like this one from the Chicago Tribune, raised the possibility that the audience had just been played.

Now that the joke has been confirmed, queries are surging on “bruno eminem fake stunt.” We’d say we feel used, but we’re too busy laughing.

I still don’t think Eminem was in on it. I think that MTV is just trying to cover their butts. If you didnt catch this story before >>here<< (video is also linked there)

Up

June 1, 2009

Disney has another hit on their hands with the new Pixar movie UP.

Went to see it with Daniel and Real 3d and it was awesome.
From the first trailer you don’t really get a good look at the story line. I have to admit i thought from the get go this movie looked stupid. But as more trailers came on and more clips were shown on the UP facebook site i became more interested in seeing it.
up-review-1

The story begins in the childhood of Carl , whose love of adventure leads him to meet a spunky young girl named Ellie. For the first 20 minutes or so you watch how Carl and Ellie settle into life together, growing in love and growing older. The promised trip to South America, the two had dreamed of exploring the world, much like their idol Charles Muntz, but everyday life kept getting in the way.
Carl and Ellie are now in their 80s and Carl decided it is time to make good on his promise. He buys tickets to go to South America and plans a picnic for him and his darling wife but while going to it Ellie gets sick. [[I loved the way they showed their life and how they were getting older. you could really tell how in love Carl was with Ellie and how deep it ran.]]

With development going on all around him Carl refuse to sell his house for it was His and Ellie’s. Some construction work knocks of the mail box him and Ellie built and Carl gets in trouble with hitting the man over the head with his cane trying to get his mail box back. Carl is now forced to go to a retirement home. The old man’s solution? Being a former balloon salesman, he bundles together several thousand of the helium-filled orbs, straps them to his chimney and lifts the domicile from the rafters and into the great beyond. Carl’s dream is to explore the uncharted regions of South America, much like his idol Muntz.

[[The comic relief here is divided up between Wilderness Explorer scout, Russell -- Who is just a fun loving kid all around, So innocent and so lively. And a talking dog, Doug-- Who is an out cast amount all Muntz other dogs cause of his fun loving nature and kind heart.
I really like the development of relationships in this movie-- between a man and his wife, between man and dog, and between a kid (much like a grandson) and his grandpa (in a way). ]]
This movie is a must see. If you loved all the other Pixar movies you won’t be disappointed with this one. And if you can help it go see it in 3D. They don’t make it all corny 3D-y .. trying to throw things in your face like they would at theme parks. So try it out.

And the short before the movie “Partly Cloudy” was SOOO CUTE!
