Back home

Glad to be back home. Looking forward to a home cooked meal tonight.

I also love being back in my bed. I also missed my puppies. Zoey and Mel have been sticking right beside me since we picked them back up.

Had an interview today at the SPCA. Went pretty well. I have a working interview on Friday @ 9am.

I hope everything goes well with it cuz it seems like a really cool job :)

Other than the interview I have been pretty busy today.

Anyways back to folding clothes.

Oh ps last week of my facebook free month! I feel so disconnected from everyone. Gonna be glad to be back

Third Day

Loving this bed at the hotel. You can change it to firm or soft. And it’s like a sleep number bed cuz I can set mine to what I want and Daniel can set his. Also I found this to be funny

First Day

Daniel and I arrived at 4:21am (central time) but could not get into our hotel early due to them being booked. Daniel and I had to try and sleep in the car. Finally around 8:00 (central time) we got into our hotel room. We went straight to bed but was woken by a cleaning lady trying to get into our room at 10. Daniel went back to sleep but I had to stay up because unemployment was suppose to call me due to an appeal with Rita staffing but they never called?! I didn’t have the number to call them so?! Idk maybe they didn’t need me and worked it out themselves?!
I stayed up for a hour waiting for the call and during that time I applied for a couple jobs on employflorida. I went back to sleep for about 30 mins. We got up…got ready.. And went to unclaimed baggage. I got an authentic Evan longoria jersey for 15 bucks. Other than that is was pretty much a bust. Ate supper at Ryan’s (yum) and now we r getting ready for a swim :)
I would have posted photos but I didn’t take any with my iPod. Tomorrow I will make sure to get a couple for you.

Friday!

When I worked at ACT we had a UPS lady that would come in and say “it’s friiiiiidayyyyy” (in southern twang) every Friday. And even though Friday doesn’t really have the same appeal as it did when I was working I still look forward to spending lots of time with my husband.
Best part about this weekend is next weekend we will be in GA. The count down is coming to an end yay. The honeymoon we have been waiting for..only took a year and a half to get to it.
Super stoked about it. Daniel and I haven’t been out of state (just the two of us together) it’s our first little road trip.
I’ll keep everyone up to date with our trip and post some photos. I won’t go super crazy about it. After my Sept. Free of Facebook I’ll post more photos there but till then stay tuned ;)

Nothing On

There is over 400 channels on our dish network and not a SINGLE good show on right now. What kinda crap is that?! Back in the day when you only had like 40 channels or so there was always something good on. Tv has become trashed with reality shows like Jersey Shore and talk shows like Father Albert.
Remember TGI Friday on ABC. Boy Meets World, Step by Step, Full House.. Speaking of have you tried watching Full House lately?! How corny is that show? But it was good wholesome television. Like Home Improvement or Family Matters. Shows that taught kids some values not hey if you party hard and sleep with as many ppl as you can you’ll be on tv. Look at teen mom?! Teenagers get to be on MTV for having kids while still high school, what a good influence huh? It’s all crap now even the cartoons have you seen Nick lately?! Like Chowder?! I wouldn’t let a kid watch that crap if it was the only thing on.
My plan. When I have kids I’m gonna start buying the DVD sets of Looney Tunes (and not that new one they have on now a days with daffy and bugs as roommates) or rugrats. Shows I grew up on. Cause of tv crap now just imagine what it will be like in a few years.
/rant over.
Who’s up for some Mario kart :D

//Ps. Follow me on twitter @shannarie cuz 4 followers seriously it’s like I have no friends.\\

Unclaimed Baggage

With our pending vacation to AL, TN, and GA just around the corner – Daniel and I are planning our stops like Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, and Six Flags, but our first stop Unclaimed Baggage.

“What’s that” you may be saying to yourself. Well- When the airlines cannot find the rightful owner to unclaimed luggage, they sell it by the truckload to this Scottsboro based company. Then workers go through the suitcases and then put the items up for sale (Must be an interesting job – think of the things they find in there.)

The Unclaimed Baggage Center is the nation’s only merchant of unclaimed and lost airline baggage. Because of this, shopping at the Unclaimed Baggage Center is a unique shopping experience, as visitors can buy high dollar items for incredibly discounted prices. This store not only carries the mundane items of cloths and accessories but you can also find anything from kayaks and other sports gear to first edition books and original paintings.

{Additional items include: digital cameras, shoes, coats, formal gowns, eyewear, rugs, children’s toys, business suits, CDs and DVDs, golf clubs, purses, swim suits, hats, baby strollers and cribs, portable DVD players, fine jewelry and of course luggage. }

Last time we were in Scottsboro  we didn’t have time to shop – this time whoever we are gonna getting our shopping on.

If you didn’t know about this place before NOW you can put it on your list of places to visit.

Here Comes the Storm

I was feeling good this morning and wanted to once again start my bike ride. I get ready, grab my hat and my iPod, open the garage door annnd this is what I see…
20110906-103536.jpg

Almost no sun left. Dangit! I checked the radar

20110906-103822.jpg
Looks like I won’t be riding my bike today. Good news is Daniel may get to come home early! I guess that is better than a bike ride :)

Update: Daniel did come home early yay! And I posted my storm photo to Channel 8 and they RT me :D

No Sleep

With the lights of a cop car flashing red and blue thru the window and the sound of the humming helicopter going in and out till 3:00 in the morning it was very hard to fall asleep. When Daniel and I first saw the car we watched for a bit. The officer was checking each car that tired to come into the neighbor. Well this morning thanks to The Ledger I know why.

Auburndale Officer Shot; Suspect Taken Into Custody After Standoff
Sep 3, 2011
By MATTHEW PLEASANT / THE LEDGER
AUBURNDALE | An Auburndale police officer was critically wounded Friday night as she approached a home to investigate a report of a couple arguing and was shot multiple times, deputies said.
Stacy Lee Booth, 26, was shot in the right forearm and through her abdomen, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. She underwent surgery at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and was in critical but stable condition Saturday morning.
Michael Wayne Lester, 36, of 413 Diamond Ridge Drive, in Auburndale, is accused of shooting Booth. Polk County sheriff’s SWAT Team members took him into custody about 1 a.m. Saturday after firing gas canisters into his home.
Lester was being treated Saturday morning at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, deputies said. He will be booked today into Polk County Jail.
“The suspect decides whether we need to use deadly force,” Judd told reporters during a 2 a.m. press conference. “Tonight he decided we didn’t have to.”
Officer Booth responded to the home after emergency dispatchers received a call just after 10 p.m. Friday from a young girl who said her parents were arguing. Dispatchers reached her mother by cell phone, who told them she and her daughter had left the home and were fine.
Despite the mother’s assurances, Booth arrived at Lester’s home about 10 minutes later to investigate. As she approached, she was struck by what deputies think were gunshot blasts fired by Lester through his front door.
It appears Booth was never able to make contact with Lester and had no warning the shots were coming, Judd said.
“This was clearly an ambush,” he said.
Officers surrounded the home and Lester fired 8 to 9 more shots at them, Judd said. Lester refused to cooperate with negotiators and Polk County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team members fired gas into the home.
Authorities navigated a State Fire Marshal’s robot into the home and found Lester inside unconscious. Deputies believe he was knocked out by the gas.
Police blocked access to the Diamond Ridge neighborhood and turned residents away at the Adams Road and Polk City Road. Neighbors of Lester’s home were evacuated during the incident.
“I had no idea what was going on,” said Kristina Rhett, 55, who lives in a neighborhood on Adams Road and was blocked from going home. “They just said it was for my own safety.”
Residents were allowed to return about 2 a.m.
Officer Booth joined the Auburndale Police Department in April 2010. She is engaged to be married to Polk County sheriff’s detention deputy Thomas West.
Auburndale Police Chief Nolan McLeod was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and began treatment for the illness Friday, authorities said. He was too ill to respond to the shooting.

Whoa! That is so close to us! Crazy. I just thought it was someone that tired to rob someone and ran into the groves. My prayers are with the officer and her family.

One Month Facebook Free

To quote Daniel: Shanna and I were talking about how millions of people spend hours everyday on Facebook. They check in places by using their phone which automatically has the Facebook application installed. What if Facebook shut down over night? What would all these people do if they couldn’t read their friends status updates, check in, or see photos? Would they go back to myspace?

Millions of people including myself are hooked on social networking. It’s unbelievable how many people’s lives are actually affected by it. The real question is, if you randomly ask 100 people to list what their morning routine would be, how many people would include “checking Facebook?” How many of them would say “read my Bible” or “said my prayers.” I’m willing to bet less than 10%. I’m not saying Facebook is necessarily evil, but I do believe it’s a distraction.

My goal this month of “Facebook free-ness” is to focus on  my devotion time. I always check my iPod as soon as I get up and then I’m on Facebook through out the day but I could use this time better. So, I have this book called  “A Call to Die“, by David Nasser, which focuses on what it means to live for Christ by daily dying to self. It is an intensive devotional, beckoning the reader to dare define Christ’s radical call. It asks for you to give up a distraction for 40 days and concentrate on your relationship with God.  And that is exactly what I need right now in my journey of bettering myself.
I recommend this book! I read it a long time ago when I was still in Youth Group at Main Street Baptist. It helped me a lot then and it is just what I need to recharge :)
